Introduction

Petroleum & Natural Resources Division was created in April 1977. Prior to that Petroleum and Natural Resources was part of the Ministry of Fuel, Power and Natural Resources.

Mission Statement

To ensure availability and security of sustainable supply of oil and gas for economic development and strategic requirements of Pakistan and to coordinate development of natural resources of energy and minerals.

CO-OPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND SULTANATE OF OMAN
The ceremony of signing the agreement between Pakistan and Sultanate of Oman was held on 14th May, 2018 at the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division. The agreed Agreement was signed by Mr. Sikandar Sultan Raja, Secretary Petroleum from Pakistan's side and H. E. Al Sheikh Mohammed Omar Ahmed Al Marhoon, the Ambassador of Sultanate of Oman on behalf of the Sultanate’s Government. Officials of Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division, Pakistan State Oil Company limited (PSOCL), Pakistan LNG limited (PLL) and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources is strongly rebutting the allegations appeared in News Item dated 23 January 2017
A news item has appeared in the daily ‘The Nation’, dated 23rd January 2017 titled ‘Massive corruption by oil & gas companies unearthed, whereby with reference to audit paras, allegations of embezzlement of billion of rupees have been leveled against oil & gas companies. Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources is strongly rebutting the said allegations and it is clarified that these allegation are based on audit paras 2.4.1 (EWT Production) and 2.4.12 (No exploration activities in blocks) of year 2013-14. The audit paras are primarily based on misinterpretation of Rules of Audit.
